Sometimes it can be hard to drift off into sleep, some people struggle with this a lot more than others. Most of the time I can fall asleep quite easy, but when I can't sleep there are certain things that I do to help. Today I am sharing my tips to help you fall asleep (note: these tips work on me, they may not work on you buy hey they're worth a try):

If you don't know what mindfulness is, it's basically a technique where you bring your attention to the internal and external things that are going on around you. When I can't sleep, I focus on my breathing and focus on feeling my chest expand and relax as I breath in and out at a slow pace for 5 seconds. This method relaxes me and when relaxed it is much easier to fall asleep.

Lavender oil
Sometimes I like to burn some Lavender oil in an oil burner for a little bit before I go to bed. The scent of Lavender is such a calming smell and helps with relaxation and anxiety, it is also scientifically known to help you sleep. Always make sure you blow out candles before you sleep!
Alternatively, you can also just sprinkle a couple of drops onto a tissue and put it under your pillow.

Eye mask
I wear an eye mask now pretty much every night, since I started using one I feel like my sleep is so much better and I wake up feeling amazing compared to when I used to sleep without one. I recommend you give eye masks a go, even if you don't struggle to sleep it'll change your life.

Turn off
Turn everything off! Don't play on your phone, turn off the TV, turn off the laptop - they all make your brain active and awake. Try reading a book or, like I said earlier, a little bit of mindfulness.

I hope these tips help you, let me know if you have any others to add!
